Next-gen Hyundai Creta debut likely in 2026 New i20 India launch expected in 2027
In order to boost sales further, Hyundai is planning to launch multiple new cars, including the next-generation Creta and i20. Moreover, the company will introduce a new crossover/SUV to rival the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Hyundai has also confirmed a compact electric SUV, Palisade hybrid and a new off-road SUV for the Indian market. Testing of the new Creta and i20 have already been commenced in Korea as well as in Europe.
Hyundai has officially announced to launch 26 vehicles, including 20 ICE-powered cars and 6 electric vehicles by 2030. The next-gen Creta will be the brand’s most important launch, as it is currently the country’s top-selling midsized SUV and is facing intense competition from the likes of the Tata Sierra, Maruti Victoris and others.
The next-gen Hyundai Creta is expected to be revealed before the end of 2026 with launch expected in Q1, 2027. The spy images confirm that the next model will have a longer wheelbase, which is likely to be around 2690mm. It will grow in size, and could measure around 4.5 meters in length, and will be wider and taller than the outgoing model. The SUV will be based on the global K3 platform that also underpins the new Kia Seltos. It will carry a more boxy, squarer shape instead of the roundish profile.
The spy images confirmed the presence of electric Boss Mode, and adjustable headrests for all three rear passengers. It is expected to get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. The next-gen Hyundai Creta will retain its engine options, including a 1.5L NA petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel. Adding to it, the SUV will also get an all-new strong hybrid engine.
The new-gen i20 is expected to be launched in 2027, with global debut expected later this year. Spy images reveal that the new Hyundai i20 will carry the brand’s latest design philosophy and all-new interior with an updated technology. Another big update is that the new i20 will continue to be offered with traditional combustion powertrains. It is likely to share the cabin layout with the new Venue, featuring a curved display comprising a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. The hatchback is also expected to receive driver assistance system.
The next-gen Hyundai i20 will offer a boxier and tough stance. The spotted model has a full-width DRLs and a boxy honeycomb grille, flatter pillars and a rising belt line. It is expected to be based on an updated version of the current platform. It is likely to be offered with multiple petrol engines with mild hybrid tech. The India-spec model is likely to be offered with a 1.2L NA petrol and a 1.0L turbo petrol engine. Hyundai is also developing a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine, which will be hybrid ready.
