Maruti Suzuki offers two significant models in our market. The Dzire, being the light compact sedan, and the Fronx is an SUV-styled crossover more sporty. Although Dzire certainly fits well with families, especially when needing a highly practical, fuel-economical car. Fronx appeals to potential buyers who want a much more stylish, feature-rich urban car.
Here's how they compare to see which fits your needs better.
The Maruti Dzire compact sedan is sharp, with the beauty being quite sleek. It is longer than the hatchback and has more boot space (382 litres). The cabin is very cozy and allows five grown adults perfectly. The Maruti Fronx, on the other hand, is a compact urban crossover. And with SUV-like design features huge wheel arches and robust appeal. This one stands slightly taller and broader compared to Dzire but almost the same in terms of a wheelbase. Both the cars give pretty good space for the cabin, but it is different when it comes to the boot capacity that goes to the Dzire.
Dzire is loaded with features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, and a 360-degree camera. Not to forget a factory-fitted electric sunroof would make it segment-first.
Similarly, the Fronx comes with a 9-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 360-degree camera. It also features a head-up display and wireless charging. Wherein both cars deliver a healthy dose of modernity, the Fronx gives its features a sportier, more SUV feel.
The Dzire variant enjoys a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder motor with an output of 80.87 bhp. The car gets both a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. It offers fantastic fuel efficiency up to 25.71 kmpl mileage while using the AMT gearbox. The car also comes in a CNG option which seems to deliver an outstanding 33.73 km/kg mileage.
In contrast, the Fronx has two options: a 1.2-litre petrol engine delivering 88 bhp, and a more potent option in 1.0-litre turbocharged offering 100 bhp. But the Fronx comes with a bit more power, as is evident from the turbo-petrol variant, but the Dzire far outscores fuel efficiency.
Both Dzire and Fronx come well equipped with a robust safety kit that includes a maximum of up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control. The Dzire gets a much better rating when it comes to safety with a 5-star Global NCAP rating. The Fronx is inherently safe but lacks an NCAP rating.
The Dzire ranges between Rs 6.79 lakh to Rs 10.14 lakh. This car has four variants. The Fronx is the new one as it is priced between Rs 7.52 lakh to Rs 12.88 lakh with more engine options and a sportier feel so, anyone looking to get a crossover would love it.
If you want a more fuel-efficient car, which is budget-friendly and safe, with good features, then it would be the Maruti Dzire. But if it is a sportier, ruffier, or chunkier car and you have some more engine options available, then for you, it would be Maruti Fronx.
