Baleno and Fronx facelifts arriving in coming weeks Fronx facelift to initially come with existing engines, strong hybrid in 2027
After introducing the Brezza facelift, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch two more facelifts of existing models during festive season, Diwali. The company will launch the facelifted versions of the Baleno and Fronx. Testing of these two models has already been commenced. As part of its future product strategies, MSIL will adopt a multi-powertrain strategy for its upcoming pixels, offering a wide range of options including petrol, BEV, strong hybrids, CNG and Biogas (CBG), and flex-fuel technology.
Maruti Suzuki is yet to announce the official launch timeline of the new Baleno facelift, but we expect the hatchback to arrive in the coming weeks. Spy images reveal that the hatchback will receive subtle design changes and an upgraded cabin along with a longer list of features. It is likely to get a redesigned front grille, a slimmer chrome bar connecting the headlamps, and a repositioned fog lamp assembly.
The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift is expected to receive a new interior scheme and a slightly better material quality. Similar to the Brezza facelift, the new Baleno could get a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It is likely to continue to feature HUD, automatic climate control, electric sunroof, and others. The hatchback could also get the ventilated front-seats.
Instead of the 1.2L, 4-cylinder, NA petrol engine, the Baleno facelift could get a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, Z12E engine that also powers the Swift hatchback. This engine produces 81 bhp and 112 Nm of torque, and is likely to be paired to either a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.
The Fronx facelift will receive significant changes in terms of interiors and technical upgrade. The crossover is expected to get revised bumpers, a revised front grille, tweaked headlamps, new alloys and redesigned tail-lamps. Inside the cabin, the crossover could get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Other additions likely to include ventilated front seats, a digital driver’s display, and new seat upholstery and door trims. The top-spec variant is also likely to get an electric sunroof.
Spy shots of test prototypes of the Fronx facelift revealed rear-mounted LiDAR and radar-based calibration equipment. It is likely to get a LEVEL 2 ADAS tech with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and others.
The existing 100bhp, 1.0L Boosterjet turbo petrol and 90bhp, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engines will be carried forward from the current lineup. The crossover is also reportedly to receive an in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain; however, this version will only arrive in 2027.
