The Bharat NCAP crash tests compared the safety of Tata Curvv and Citroen Basalt. These results reveal how both SUVs protect passengers and highlight key safety features, helping buyers make a well-informed choice. Here's a quick comparison of their performance.
The Tata Curvv achieved an exceptionally high score in adult occupant protection at 29.50 out of 32. The electric version of the Curvv, Curvv EV, fared even better, boasting a score of 30.81, depicting exemplary frontal and side crash capability. The Citroen Basalt scored 26.19 out of 32. Although the Basalt proved impressive in the tests against side impacts, the lower score it obtained in the frontal crash test impacted its overall AOP score.
Child safety is one of the strong suits of the Tata Curvv. It has scored 43.66 out of 49 in the internal combustion variant and 44.83 in the EV variant, thanks to proper ISOFIX integration and a high score for crash restraint testing. The Citroen Basalt scored a little 35.90 out of 49, largely due to weak dynamic scores for child seats, although the installation systems were reliable in it.
Standardized safety features in Tata Curvv include frontal airbags and curtain airbags for side protection, electronic stability control (ESC), and seat belt reminders across all variants. Citroen Basalt also offers these features with variants differing in side airbags and ESC. Tata Curvv is thus more uniform in safety provisions.
In frontal crash tests, the Tata Curvv scored 14.65 from a total of 16 while the Curvv EV scored 15.66. The Citroen Basalt managed only 10.19 and clearly lagged behind in terms of protection in case of a frontal collision. However, in the side crash tests, the Basalt matched Curvv with full marks, underlining its robust lateral crash performance.
In terms of the protection of adult and child occupants, the Tata Curvv and Curvv EV outshone the Citroen Basalt. The Tata Curvv scored a better overlap and side impact test score due to higher consistency in safety features and is relatively a safer choice under Bharat NCAP. Buyers looking for dependable crash safety may look towards Curvv.
