In order to revive sales, Renault is planning to launch 3 new cars including 2 brand new SUVs in the Indian market in the next 1-2 years. The company has also confirmed that the hugely popular Duster nameplate will return. In fact, the third generation Renault Duster is already on sale in select international markets. Here are answers to the most popular questions about the upcoming new Renault Duster SUV.
There is a confusion in the market about the launch of the third generation Renault Duster. Previous reports claim that the SUV launch has been pushed to early 2026. However, a new media report reveals that Renault has confirmed that the new-gen Duster will arrive this year - most probably around October-November 2025. We believe that the launch could take place in the first quarter of 2026.
The third-gen Renault Duster will be a 4.3 meter long SUV and will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and others in the category. It will have a high level of localization, and we expect the new Duster to price around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 17 lakh.
The new-gen Renault Duster receive massive changes in terms of design, interior and underpinnings. The biggest update is the new platform and a more modern interior with better ergonomics and features. It is based on the Renault-Nissan alliance's CMF-B modular architecture, which is versatile enough to accommodate a bigger SUV.
The new Duster comes with a more modern cabin with features like a free-standing touchscreen infotainment unit, digital instrument console, wireless charger, powered driver=seat, ventilated front seats and many more. The SUV also gets ADAS tech with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and others.
In the global markets, the new Duster is available with hybrid and mild-hybrid engine options including a 1.2L turbo petrol with a mild hybrid setup, and a 1.6L petrol with a strong hybrid setup.
In India, the new-gen Duster is reportedly to be offered with two petrol engines - a 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated and a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol. Renault could also use the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that powers the Kiger. Both manual and CVT gearbox options will be on offer.
Yes, the next-gen Duster will come with a 4x4 drivetrain. The platform is compatible with 4x4 and AWD drivetrain. In fact, the new Duster with 4x4 setup has already been caught testing on foreign soil. It is early to comment whether India-bound Duster will get this setup, but an AWD version is certainly coming to our market.

Yes, the third-gen Renault Duster will come with advanced driver assistance system or ADAS. The advanced safety features include lane change warning and assist, traffic sign recognition with speed alerts, automatic emergency braking, and detection systems for vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcycles.
The next-gen Renault Duster is designed and developed on Renault-Nissan Alliance's CMF-B modular platform, which will also underpin the upcoming Nissan mid-sized SUV. In fact, the Dacia Bigster - a 4.5 meter long SUV is also based on this platform.
Renault India will heavily localize this platform to achieve competitive pricing. A 7-seater version of the Duster based on the CMF-B platform will also arrive in our market.
The new Duster comes with an evolved design language, heavily inspired by the Dacia Duster and Bigster SUVs. However, the SUV still retains the look of the original SUV. The front has sleeker LED headlamps with Y-shaped LED DRLs, a new grille with chrome inserts, large air intakes at both ends, low-set fog lamps, and a raised bonnet with sharp creases.
The SUV gets squared-off wheel arches, roof rails, body cladding and dual-tone alloy wheels. At the back, the new Duster gets V-shaped LED tail-lamps with a Y-shaped signature, and an integrated roof spoiler.
Yes, Renault sells the Duster SUV under its own nameplate in markets where Dacia is not present. Dacia is Renault's low-cost brand for some European markets. In countries like India and Turkey, the Duster is sold under Renault's nameplate.
In terms of proportions, the new Duster is 4343mm long, 1813mm wide and 1661mm tall. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2657mm, while the ground clearance stands at 217mm. It offers a boot space of 472-litres, which is more than sufficient to carry your weekend bags.
The new-gen Renault Duster will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate and others in the mid-sized SUV category. The AWD version will challenge the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder.
