New Toyota Hilux To Launch With Major Updates

New Toyota Hilux will launch in India this July. It gets a redesigned cabin and updated exterior. Prices could increase by up to Rs 4 lakh.

Toyota is preparing to launch the new-generation Hilux in India this July. The pickup truck was unveiled globally last year and is now set to arrive with several updates. While it will continue with its rugged character, the new model is expected to offer a fresh design, a completely updated cabin and more technology.

Here's a look at the major changes expected on the new Hilux.

New Look On The Outside

The new Hilux gets noticeable styling updates, especially at the front. It features slimmer full-LED headlamps, a body-coloured mesh grille with Toyota lettering and a redesigned front bumper with silver inserts.

The side profile remains largely unchanged, although Toyota has introduced a new design for the 18-inch alloy wheels.

At the rear, the pickup gets updated LED tail lamps, black Toyota badging and a shark-fin antenna.

Cabin Gets A Complete Redesign

The interior has been redesigned and now looks more modern than the outgoing model.

The dashboard features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. It also gets a new steering wheel, a redesigned gear lever, dual-zone climate control and a dual glovebox.

Higher variants are expected to offer features such as a 360-degree camera, powered and ventilated front seats and an ADAS suite.

Engine Expected To Remain The Same

Toyota is likely to continue offering the 2.8-litre diesel engine with both manual and automatic gearbox options. The 4x4 drivetrain is also expected to remain standard.

There is also a possibility of Toyota introducing the 48V mild-hybrid system that recently debuted on the Fortuner. However, the company has not confirmed this for the India-spec Hilux.

Expected Price

The current Hilux is priced between Rs 28.52 lakh and Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom).

With the updates, the new model is expected to cost around Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4 lakh more than the current version.

Launch Expected In July

Toyota is expected to launch the new Hilux in India this July. The updated model will continue to target buyers looking for a lifestyle pickup truck with off-road capability, while offering a more modern cabin and additional features.
