Next-gen Toyota Fortuner to debut globally in late 2026. It will get Hilux-inspired design, ADAS and mild hybrid diesel engine.

The next-generation Toyota Fortuner is finally taking shape, as revealed by the latest spy shots. The all-new model is set to make global debut in late 2026, followed by its India launch in 2027. The 2026 Toyota Fortuner is likely to receive updates similar to the ninth-generation Hilux pickup truck, which is slated to launch in India this month.

New Hilux-Inspired Design

The biggest update could be made to its underpinnings. The all-new Fortuner is expected to share the new IMV ladder-frame platform with the new Hilux. While it will retain its muscular proportions and rugged SUV silhouette, the new-generation model will feature a more upright stance, a wider front fascia and a flatter bonnet.

The new Toyota Fortuner will draw design inspiration from the new Hilux pickup truck. Upfront, the SUV will feature split headlamp setup, slim LED DRLs (daytime running lights), a larger redesigned grille and tweaked bumper with integrated fog lamps. Other design highlights might include a more squared-off rear profile with slimmer wraparound taillamps and a revised bumper.

ADAS and Several New Features

While interior details are still under wraps, the 2026 Toyota Fortuner is expected to share a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital driver’s display with the new Hilux. Spy images confirm an inclusion of Toyota Safety Sense, the brand’s ADAS (advanced driver assistance system).

The suite is likely to offer features such as pre-collision system, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert, dynamic radar cruise control, emergency steering assist, automatic high beam, road sign assist, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitor and more.

The SUV could also be offered with OTA (over-the-air) updates, wireless phone charging, a dual 12.3-inch display setup, ventilated and powered front seats, a 360-degree camera and several other premium features.

Petrol, Diesel & Diesel Mild Hybrid Engines

In India, the new Toyota Fortuner is expected to retain the existing 2.7L petrol and 2.8L diesel engine options. The 2.8L diesel engine will also be available with Toyota’s 48V mild-hybrid system. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. A 4WD (four-wheel drive) system will continue to be offered on select variants.
