Renault Triber 1.0 Turbo Engine with CVT and CNG Launching by Diwali, 2026

First launched in 2019, the Renault Triber has been one of the best-selling models for the French automaker in India. The MPV received a mid-life update with significant changes last year. A new media report claims that the Triber will finally receive the turbocharged petrol engine, which is currently offered with the Kiger and the new Renault Duster. 

Renault will introduce the turbocharged Triber MPV before the end of this year, most probably around September-October. The report further claims that the MPV will also receive a CVT automatic gearbox along with a CNG powertrain. The company aims to offer the Triber with multiple powertrains, including the 1.0L 3-cylinder NA petrol with manual and AMT, a 1.0L turbo petrol with manual and CVT, a 1.0L NA with CNG and a 1.0L turbo with CNG. 

1.0L Turbo Petrol with CVT

This engine is not the turbo version of the 1.0L, 3-cylinder, NA petrol engine that powers the Triber. Instead, it is derived from the Duster’s 1.3L four-cylinder engine. The new 1.0L turbo petrol engine, codenamed HR10 is capable of producing 99bhp and 160Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic unit. The engine also powers the new Duster, but it only offered with a manual gearbox. 

Dual-CNG Tanks

The Triber will also get a factory-fitted CNG version, which will incorporate dual CNG tanks under the boot floor. This time around, the CNG version will use the more powerful turbocharged petrol engine. This will address customer’s two biggest demands - more power and CNG running costs. The report further claims that the Renault Kiger will also get the Turbo CNG option.

Renault has officially announced that its India lineup will have 7 models by 2030. The company will launch the much-anticipated Bridger concept based compact SUV in 2027. It will come with petrol and hybrid powertrains. Moreover, an EV derivative of the SUV is also under development. Renault will also launch a 7-seater SUV based on the new RGMP platform. The existing models will be upgraded with the introduction of next-gen models and powertrains.
