New Renault RGEP Platform Unveiled – Triber, Kiger & Kwid Get Big Upgrades

Triber, Kiger and Kwid get turbo engines and CNG New RGEP platform brings space and flexibility Renault aims for 5% market share by 2030

Renault has introduced its new RGEP (Renault Group Entry Platform) at the futuREady India event, highlighting the country as a key hub in the brand’s global strategy.

This updated architecture is set to replace the CMF-A platform, currently used by the Kwid, Triber, and Kiger, and is designed to be highly versatile, supporting multiple body types, seating configurations, and a wide range of powertrains, including petrol, turbo-petrol, CNG, hybrid, and electric.

Underbody CNG Tank Boosts Practicality

New Renault RGEP Platform Unveiled

One of the standout features of RGEP is the underbody-mounted CNG tank. This design ensures that third-row seating in the Triber remains fully usable, making it ideal for family buyers. The CNG filler is conveniently positioned next to the petrol fuel cap rather than under the bonnet, simplifying refuelling and improving usability.

Triber and Kiger to Gain Turbo-Petrol Options

The Triber will benefit from a larger, turbo-petrol engine for better performance, addressing a key limitation of the current model. Space optimisation on the new platform will also enhance cabin comfort and boot capacity. The Kiger will join in receiving a factory-fitted CNG option along with its turbo-petrol engine, making it the second compact SUV in India after the Tata Nexon to offer this combination.

Flexible, Modular Platform for Multiple Models

The RGEP platform is highly modular, supporting five- to seven-seater configurations and transmission options such as AMT and CVT. Renault says it allows for ICE, hybrid, CNG, and even electric powertrains, with 2WD, 4WD, and e4WD options. With over 90% localisation in India, the platform is designed to keep costs in check while enabling vehicle upgrades and improved driving dynamics.

Renault’s India Growth Strategy

The RGEP rollout is part of Renault’s broader futuREady India plan, which focuses on growth, technology, excellence, and trust. The company is investing heavily in India, with plans for 6,000 engineers, 350 sales touchpoints, 450 service centres, and collaboration with over 130 local suppliers. Renault aims to expand its Indian line-up from four to seven models by 2030 and target a 5% market share in the country, with India also set to become a key export hub.
