Renault Kwid Facelift Coming – New Design, TFT Display, Same Engine

Renault is preparing a facelift for the Kwid, and the updated hatchback has been spotted completely undisguised in Brazil. The new model gets a refreshed exterior, an updated cabin and a new TFT instrument display.

The facelift is expected to retain the existing 1.0-litre petrol engine, with the main focus being on design and feature upgrades. While Renault has not confirmed an India launch yet, the updated Kwid could eventually come to the country.

New E-Tech-inspired front design

The biggest styling changes are at the front of the new Kwid. Renault has given the hatchback a new rectangular enclosed grille, taking inspiration from the electric Kwid E-Tech. The front bumper has also been redesigned. It gets a large black section below the grille and a lower section with silver highlights, giving the small hatchback a more modern look.

The split lighting setup remains unchanged. The indicators and position lamps continue to sit around the upper grille, while the main rectangular headlamps remain lower down in the bumper. Changes to the side are limited, with the existing body cladding and flap-style door handles retained. New wheel designs are expected to be the main update here. At the rear, the facelifted Kwid gets clear-lens tail lamps, while the tailgate and bumper remain largely unchanged.

Cabin gets a new TFT display

The interior gets a more noticeable update. The current digital instrument display is expected to be replaced by a new TFT instrument cluster, with separate fuel and temperature indicators. The Kwid also gets a new touchscreen infotainment system. The screen sits next to the instrument cluster and appears to be connected to the instrument binnacle. The AC vents have also been redesigned and feature a new Y-shaped pattern. Renault has retained the rotary AC controls and physical buttons, including the centrally placed power-window switches.

Same 1.0-litre petrol engine

Major mechanical changes are not expected with the Kwid facelift. The international-spec model is likely to continue with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing around 70hp. This means the facelift will mainly focus on giving the Kwid a fresher design and more modern technology rather than improving its performance. India-specific engine and gearbox details have not been announced yet.

India launch could follow

The updated Kwid has been spotted in Brazil, but Renault has not officially confirmed when the facelift will arrive in India. The Kwid remains an important entry-level model for Renault, although its sales have fallen in recent months. A fresh design and updated cabin could help the hatchback attract more buyers.

Renault is currently focusing heavily on its SUV line-up in India. The new Duster has already arrived, while its hybrid version is expected around Diwali 2026. The company is also planning a new seven-seater SUV for 2027, followed by a new sub-4-metre SUV based on the Bridger around Diwali 2027.

Because of these upcoming launches, the Kwid facelift could arrive after Renault's new SUVs, although the exact timeline is not known yet. For now, there is no official confirmation of the India-spec model. However, the new design and updated cabin could give Renault's entry-level hatchback a much-needed refresh if it comes to India.
