New Renault Kwid Is Almost Here; Here's What Will Change

Renault will unveil the new Kwid on July 3. The facelift is expected to bring a new design, bigger touchscreen and six airbags. The 1.0-litre petrol engine is likely to continue with manual and AMT options.

Renault is all set to reveal the updated Kwid on July 3. The hatchback has been one of the brand's most popular models in India, and this facelift is expected to give it a fresh look while adding a few much-needed updates inside the cabin.

Although Renault has not shared the official details yet, earlier sightings of the car have already revealed many of the changes that buyers can expect.

A Fresh New Look

The biggest change is expected to be the exterior design. The new Kwid is likely to take inspiration from the Dacia Spring EV sold in international markets.

It is expected to get new Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps and matching Y-shaped tail-lamps, giving the hatchback a more modern appearance. The headlights are likely to remain halogen units, while the front and rear bumpers could get a new design. Renault is also expected to introduce a fresh set of alloy wheels to complete the updated look.

A More Modern Cabin

The cabin is also expected to receive a noticeable update. Renault could offer a larger infotainment touchscreen, likely around 10 inches, along with a new steering wheel and a redesigned instrument cluster.

The dashboard is expected to get a cleaner design inspired by the Dacia Spring, making the cabin look more upmarket while keeping the overall layout familiar.

Safety Could Get Better

The updated Kwid may also bring improvements in safety. Renault is expected to offer six airbags, making the hatchback a stronger option for buyers looking for a budget-friendly car with more safety features.

No Changes Under The Hood

While the design and cabin are expected to receive several updates, the engine is likely to remain the same. The facelifted Kwid is expected to continue with the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 68 hp. Buyers will likely continue to get a choice between a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT.

Expected Price

The updated Kwid is likely to be priced slightly higher than the current model, which costs between Rs 4.30 lakh and Rs 5.88 lakh (ex-showroom). With a refreshed design, a more modern cabin and added safety features, Renault will be hoping the facelift keeps the Kwid competitive in the entry-level hatchback segment.
