Skoda Superb Diesel to Return to India in 2027

Skoda Superb diesel is expected to return to India in early 2027. It could get Volkswagen Group’s 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. Expected price could be around Rs 55 lakh-60 lakh.

Skoda Auto is preparing to bring the Superb back to India in the first half of 2027, marking the return of its flagship sedan after a two-year gap. The new-generation model is expected to arrive as a CBU import and will sit at the top of Skoda’s India line-up. The biggest highlight will be the return of diesel power, with the Superb expected to use Volkswagen Group’s 2.0-litre TDI engine.

Diesel Engine to Return

Skoda discontinued diesel engines in India ahead of the BS6 emission norms in 2020. The new Superb will therefore mark the brand’s first diesel-powered passenger car in India in several years. The diesel engine could become a major selling point, as there are currently very few premium diesel sedans available in the Indian market.

Expected to Rival Toyota Camry

The Superb will be positioned as a premium flagship sedan and could take on the Toyota Camry. Its return will also give existing Skoda customers an upgrade option, while helping the brand strengthen its premium image in a market increasingly dominated by SUVs.

Expected Price

The Superb is expected to be imported from Skoda’s Bratislava facility in Europe. Since local assembly is unlikely, import duties could have a significant impact on its price. However, the India-EU free trade agreement could potentially reduce import duties on European cars. The fully loaded Superb is expected to cost around Rs 55 lakh-60 lakh (ex-showroom), although the final price will be announced closer to launch.

Skoda Superb India Launch

The new Superb is expected to return to India in the first half of 2027. It is likely to remain a low-volume model, with its primary role being to strengthen Skoda’s premium portfolio. The combination of a large luxury sedan and a diesel engine could make the new Superb a unique proposition in India.
