Design to be an evolution of current model Likely to offered with strong-hybrid engine May be locally assembled in India
Following the release of the first teaser of the New Superb, Škoda has now confirmed that the next-gen sedan will be coming to India this year. The new Superb will offer a sharper design, revamped interior with added features, and new powertrain options. We take a closer look.
While the first teaser did not reveal much, it did give us a few cues of the next-gen Superb’s styling. The overall design is said to be an evolution of the current model, but will feature some key differences. Up the front, the premium sedan will get new C-shaped headlights and LED DRLs along with a redesigned bumper and grille. The side profile will feature sharper character lines for a more aggressive look. Towards the rear, it will offer C-shaped wraparound LED taillights that may be connected to a full-width light bar while the boot lid will feature an integrated spoiler.
The All-New Superb may be offered in India with a strong-hybrid powertrain. Globally, the sedan is available with a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine paired with a single electric motor. Its combined power output stands at 215 bhp with 400 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty will be handled by a 6-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
Škoda had recently discontinued the current-gen Superb in India as its turbo-petrol engine did not comply with the new BS6 Phase II Emission Norms.
The upcoming Skoda Superb is expected to launch in India by the end of 2023, likely around the festive period. Media reports suggest that Škoda may bring the next-gen sedan in India via the CKD route and assembling it locally.
Expect the manufacturer to price the New Superb around Rs 35 lakh to Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).
