500km+ range: Hyundai’s new India-specific EV is expected to offer over 500km of claimed range. Level 2 ADAS: The electric SUV will get Hyundai’s latest assisted driving technology. Q4 2026 launch: The new EV will be one of Hyundai’s key upcoming India launches.
Hyundai is preparing to launch a new electric SUV in India in 2026, as part of its larger product expansion plan. The India-specific EV is scheduled to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2026 and will be positioned as a high-volume model.
The new electric SUV will bring Hyundai’s latest technology to a more accessible segment, including a claimed range of over 500km, Level 2 assisted driving and the company’s next-generation Pleos infotainment technology.
Hyundai has confirmed that the upcoming EV has been developed and localised specifically for India. The company is targeting the high-volume market, which could make the new model an important product for its electric vehicle strategy.
While Hyundai has not revealed the name or detailed specifications yet, the SUV is expected to offer a claimed range of more than 500km on a single charge. The new EV is expected to arrive in India during Q4 2026, making it one of Hyundai’s key launches for the year.

Technology will be one of the major highlights of the upcoming Hyundai EV. It will feature the company’s next-generation infotainment system with Pleos technology.
The SUV will also get a Level 2 assisted driving system, bringing several advanced driver assistance features to the segment. Hyundai has not yet revealed the complete ADAS feature list, battery capacity or charging specifications. More details are expected closer to its launch.
The electric SUV is not the only new SUV Hyundai is preparing for India. The company has also confirmed another new midsize SUV with an internal-combustion engine as part of its upcoming product strategy.
The next-generation Creta is already under development and is expected to receive major changes in terms of design, technology and features. A strong hybrid powertrain is also being considered for the new Creta.
Hyundai is also working on the Bayon for India, which could sit between the Venue and Creta in the company's SUV line-up.
Hyundai's new EV will be part of a much larger product offensive in India. The company plans to introduce 26 new models or major updates by 2030. The manufacturer is also preparing for a wider shift towards electrified powertrains, including battery electric, hybrid and extended-range electric vehicles. Globally, Hyundai expects electrified vehicles to account for 60 percent of its sales by 2030, compared with 23 percent in 2025.
Hyundai is also planning to increase its production capacity in India by 3.20 lakh units by 2030. Its current annual manufacturing capacity in the country stands at around 11 lakh vehicles.
The company is targeting around 90 percent local sourcing by 2030 and plans to continue using India as an important export base for markets across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and South America.
With a 500km-plus range, Level 2 ADAS and Pleos technology, the new Hyundai EV could become an important addition to the brand's Indian line-up when it arrives in late 2026.
