Bayon launching by Diwali 2026 To get a petrol and a CNG option
The Korean automaker, Hyundai will launch two all-new SUVs in the Indian market before the end of this financial year. The company will enter into a small electric SUV category with an all-new model by the end of this financial year, most probably around 2027 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Adding to it, Hyundai will also introduce an all-new midsize SUV in our market. Rumoured to be the new-gen Bayon, the new SUV will slot right between the Venue and next-gen Creta in Hyundai India’s line-up.
While the official launch date is yet to be revealed, Hyundai stated that a new midsize SUV and a small electric SUV will be launched before the end of this financial year. The next-gen Hyundai Bayon has already been spotted testing numerous times on the Indian roads. We believe that the SUV could go on sale by September-October, 2026, during the Diwali season.
Internally codenamed BC4, the all-new Hyundai Bayon will carry a bolder, boxier SUV stance instead of the rounded crossover look. The spy images reveal that the SUV will have more upright front fascia, connected full-width LED light bars, flatter roof, and prominent wheel-arch cladding.
The new model will measure around 4.2 metres in length, and will have longer wheelbase and wider tack than the Hyundai Venue. The next-gen Creta will grow in size and is likely to measure around 4.45-4.5 meters in length; allowing Hyundai enough space to accommodate Bayon in the midsize SUV category.
In terms of features, the new Hyundai Bayon will have large curved dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and digital instrument console, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, multi-coloured ambient lighting, sunroof, premium audio system and others. For safety and security, the SUV will get 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), a 360-degree surround view camera, 3-point seat belt, and LEVEL 2 ADAS.
The new Hyundai Bayon is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that also powers the Creta. This engine produces 115 PS and 143.8 Nm of torque. It will also get a CNG option. The Bayon will be become Hyundai’s first model measuring over 4 metres in length to offer a factory-fitted CNG powertrain. In fact, media reports suggest that the SUV could get an underbody CNG tank.
