Tata Motors is preparing to launch two exciting new SUVs, the new Harrier EV and the Sierra in the country. While the Harrier EV is scheduled to be launched by April-May 2025, the Tata Sierra will arrive in the end of 2025 - most probably around September-November 2025. Tata Motors had showcased the Sierra SUV in near-production avatar at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo.
Tata Sierra will be the next model from the homegrown auto maker to offer multiple engine options including petrol, diesel and electric. It will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV and will be positioned between the Curvv and Harrier in Tata line-up.
The Tata Sierra ICE version will mark the debut of brand's new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine, which will also power the upcoming Harrier and Safari petrol. This engine is capable of producing 168bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. It is expected to be offered with two gearbox options - a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The Tata Sierra EV is expected to share its battery specs with the Harrier EV. The later is reportedly to get a 75kWh battery pack with dual-motor, AWD setup. The electric SUV could also receive a smaller 60kWh battery pack with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor as standard. The electric Sierra is likely to offer a range of around 500km+ on a full charge.
It is reported that Tata could also offer the 4x4 drivetrain system with the ICE-powered Sierra; however, official announcement is yet to be made. Tata officials stated that the Sierra's platform will be compatible with 4x4 drivetrain.
Tata Motors is continuously testing the new Sierra EV and ICE versions on the Indian roads. The recent spy images reveal that the Sierra EV will look similar to the concept that debuted last year. It will have an upright front fascia, square-shaped LED headlights, wider air dam that houses RADAR sensors, flush-type door handles, and large wheels.
The Tata Sierra EV will have a shark-fin antenna, an integrated roof spoiler, and te newly designed wraparound LED tail-lights. The SUV will have a blacked-out C-pillar and roof rails.
The new Tata Sierra EV will come equipped with a newly styled steering wheel, a large touchscreen infotainment unit, touch controls for air-conditioning functions, a fully digital driver's display, panoramic sunroof, LEVEL 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats and others.
