Two brand new electric mid-sized SUVs - the Tata Sierra EV and the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be launched in our market before the end of this financial year. These two electric SUVs will directly rival the likes of the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and others in the country. Let’s talk about the launch details, specifications and other details of these two upcoming mid-sized SUVs -

The long-awaited Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will finally go on sale in the country by December 2025. Production of the new electric Vitara at the Suzuki’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. The new SUV is the Suzuki’s first global electric SUV based on an all-new scalable platform. It will be offered with two battery choices - 48.9kWh and 61.1kWh - both will come with a front-axle-mounted electric motor.
The electric SUV will offer a certified range of up to 500km on a single charge. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in under 9 seconds. The bigger 61.1kWh battery can attain 0 to 80% charging status in 50 minutes. In terms of features, the e Vitara will get a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a digital driver’s display, multi-colour ambient lighting, fixed glass roof, ventilated front seats, and 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat.
For safety and security, the new Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will get 7 airbags, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold, TPMS, Blind spot monitoring, all-disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, and LEVEL 2 ADAS.
Tata Motors will launch the ICE-powered Sierra SUV on November 25, 2025. However, the Sierra EV will launch by the end of December or January 2026. The new electric SUV will be based on the Acti.ev+ platform with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. However, the top-spec model could get a dual-motor AWD setup. We expect the new Tata Sierra EV to price around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
The electric SUV is expected to share the powertrains with the Harrier EV, which is available with 65kWh and 75kWh LFP battery packs. It is expected to offer a realistic range of around 450-500km on a single charge.
The electric SUV will come with a triple screen dashboard comprising a central infotainment unit, a digital instrument cluster and co-passenger screen. It is likely to get a four-seater lounge variant with captain seats in the second row. The SUV will have dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, LEVEL 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, powered and ventilated seats and others.
