Tata Motors is preparing to launch the Sierra lifestyle SUV in the country before the end of 2025. Similar to the Curvv and Nexon, the Tata Sierra will be offered with multiple powertrains options including petrol, diesel and EV. If media reports are to be believed, the ICE version of the Sierra will be launched before the EV version. Adding to it, both models will have different dashboard layout and features.
Our sources reveal that the Tata Sierra ICE model will be launched during festive season, before Diwali. On the flip side, the Sierra EV will arrive before the end of this year - around October and November.
The leaked patent images reveal that the Tata Sierra EV interiors look largely identical to the concept model showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. It retains the dual screen-layout, featuring a large central touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. Interestingly, the ICE-powered Sierra will have a different dashboard from the Sierra EV.
Tata Motors had showcased the ICE-powered Sierra at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January. The SUV had triple screen layout covering the entire dashboard. In recent times, such dashboard layout is common in EVs and the Mahindra XEV 9e is the newest example. It will have a connected screen, which will house a large central touchscreen, a digital instrument panel and a display for co-passenger entertainment.
The Sierra EV is most likely to be offered with two seating layout - a 5-seater SUV with bench-type rear seat and a 4-seat lounge variant. The 4-seater model will be a premium offering with high-end features. It will have two lounge seats in the second-row with ottoman functions. This feature is normally offered in high-end and luxury cars including Kia Carnival, Toyota Innova Hycross and others.
Tata Sierra EV is expected to be based on the brand's Acti.EV architecture that underpins the Curvv EV. It is likely to get a 75kWh or a 60kWh battery pack with a front-axle-mounted electric motor, and a range of over 500km on a single charge. It is early to comment whether the Sierra will have a dual-motor AWD setup like the Harrier EV.
The Sierra ICE will mark the debut of Tata's new 1.5-litre, T-GDI petrol engine that produces 170PS and 280Nm of torque. The company could use either the 1.5L turbo diesel or the 2.0L turbo diesel engine to power the Sierra. Similar to the Curvv, both powertrains will be offered with 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCA. In case of 2.0L turbo diesel, Tata could use the 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
