Last month, Tata Motors created a buzz in the Indian automobile market by introducing a 5-speed AMT gearbox in its CNG-powered cars - Tata Tiago and Tigor. Both cars have officially been launched today with a price tag of Rs 7.90 lakh and Rs 8.85 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
Talking about the powertrain options, both hatchback and sedan are powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine. When running in the CNG mode, this engine is capable of delivering 71 bhp of power output with 95 Nm of peak torque. With the new addition of AMT, the engine is now paired with a 5-speed automatic gearbox.
Apart from the transmission update, the company has also introduced new colour options for the Tiago hatchback and Tigor subcompact sedan. These include Tornado Blue for the Tiago, Meteor Bronze for the Tigor, and Grassland Beige for the Tiago NRG.
With the addition of the automatic variant, Tata Tiago CNG is offered in four variants namely XTA, XZA+, XZA+DT, and XZA NRG. While the Tigor CNG AMT is available in two trims - XZA and XZA+.
