Kia India will announce the prices of the second-gen Seltos SUV on January 2, 2026. After Seltos, the Korean brand will introduce multiple new products, including the electric derivative of the Syros EV. However, the brand’s next big launch will be the new 7-seater Sorento SUV. Expected to be launched in the second half of 2026, the new Kia Sorento will be a 7-seater hybrid SUV to take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, VW Tiguan R-Line and others.
The global-spec model is available with multiple engine choices, including petrol, diesel, hybrid and plug-in hybrid. The India-spec 7-seater Kia Sorento will be equipped with a new 1.6-litre hybrid powertrain, which is also available in the European-spec model. However, few reports suggest that the SUV could get a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol-hybrid powertrain. We believe this powertrain will prove to be underpowered for a big-size SUV. The new 1.5L NA hybrid powertrain will also power the Seltos hybrid and the next-gen Hyundai Creta hybrid. Both these models are scheduled to be launched sometime in 2027.
The new-gen Kia Sorento 7-seater hybrid engine is equipped with a dual screens, which comprising 12.3-inch digital instrument console and a 10.25-inch infotainment unit. In terms of features, the SUV gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, leatherette seats with ventilation function, Bose sound system, and others. For safety, the SUV gets surround view monitor, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability management, multiple airbags and LEVEL 2 ADAS tech.
The SUV measures 4815mm in length, 1900mm in width and 1700mm in height, and it has a wheelbase of 2815mm. Kia has already started testing the new SUV on the Indian roads. We expect the new model to costs around Rs 35 lakh.
