Toyota to launch Hyryder 7-seater by Diwali New Fortuner arriving early 2027
Toyota is planning to further boost sales in the Indian 7-seater market, which has seen a positive growth in recent years. With the Urban Cruiser Hyryder 7-seater and a Next-gen Fortuner both on the horizon, the Japanese car manufacturer is aiming to target everything family-friendly efficiency to rugged, high-end SUV.

Codenamed the “340D”, the 7-seater Hyryder will be introduced to fill the void between the 5-seater Hyryder and the premium Innova Hycross. It will directly rival the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV 7XO. It is expected to be launched in late 2026, by Diwali.
- Bigger Size: The new Hyryder 7-seater SUV will ride on a longer wheelbase, and its length will be increased to accommodate third-row seats. Moreover, Toyota will utilise the boot space to add third-row seats. It is expected to have a more upright tailgate, a flatter roofline and redesigned front fascia to distinguish itself from the 5-seater model.
- Hybrid and Petrol Engines: It will share the powertrains with the 5-seater model, which is offered with a 1.5L NA petrol with a mild-hybrid setup and a 1.5L strong hybrid powertrain. The hybrid version is expected to offer a fuel efficiency of around 25-26kmpl, making it the most efficient 7-seater SUV.
- More Features: This SUV is expected to be offered with modern features such as a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, LEVEL 2 ADAS, a 360-degree surround view camera and front parking sensors.
The Fortuner SUV is all set to receive its most significant update in nearly a decade. Expected to be revealed globally in 2026, the New Toyota Fortuner is likely to be launched in our market in early 2027. It will take on the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq, VW Tayron, MG Majestor and the upcoming Kia Sorento.
- Diesel Hybrid: The SUV will continue to be powered by a 2.8L diesel engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This system adds start-stop functionality and offers a torque boost of up to 65 Nm.
- New Hilux-inspired Front: Spy shots suggest that the next Fortuner will have an aggressive new front fascia inspired by the global Hilux. It will have a massive hexagonal grille, high-mounted DRLs and rugged lower bumper.
- All-New Cabin: The SUV will come with all-new cabin with improved fit and finish, premium material and modern tech. It will feature dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and driver’s display, and for the first time, a panoramic sunroof. Moreover, the new Fortuner will finally get Toyota Safety Sense (ADAS) with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and others.
