Volvo has brought the facelifted version of its premium SUV, the 2025 XC90, to India. The new car is available at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs. 1.03 crore, which is Rs. 2 lakh higher than the old one. The 2025 XC90 retains the same mild-hybrid powertrain as before but with some design and feature enhancements.
The styling of the 2025 Volvo XC90 has been done slightly underplayed but easily noticeable. Its front also houses slimmer LED headlights with Thor's hammer-designed LED DRLs, but now thin and modern. Its front grille also has been refurbished with new sloping lines and with a metallic finish, giving its appearance a premium feel. Its front bumper also has been refurbished to unveil the SUV aggressively and boldly.
The rear side view of the XC90 has been equipped with new dual-tone 21-inch alloy wheels, silver door sill and chrome window sill. It also features silver roof rails. Rear light treatment has been reworked at the rear and a new roof spoiler and Volvo badge on rear tailgate finish the look.
The 2025 XC90 comes in six colors: Onyx Black, Crystal White, Denim Blue, Vapor Grey, Bright Dusk, and new Mulberry Red.
Inside the cabin, the 2025 XC90 appears no different from the previous one except with some obviously discernible upgrade. The first thing that most people tend to notice is the all-new 11.2-inch standalone screen that has taken the place of the previous one. AC vents have also been stretched to maintain pace with the bigger screen too, neaten up the inside. The steering wheel gains a new gloss-black trim feature on the bottom spoke to provide it with an appearance of being even superior.
The inside remains that luxurious ambiance, with 7-seater layout and high-end materials all over. Seats are almost exactly like the pre-facelift, but all feels nicer.
The 2025 Volvo XC90 includes all manner of modern technology and gadgetry. It includes an 11.2-inch standalone screen, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, and a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system. It also includes a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated and massaging power front seats, and a four-zone climate system. It even has a coloured heads-up display (HUD) to make life a bit simpler.
Safety features in the XC90 consist of numerous airbags, hill start and hill descent assist, four-disc brakes on four wheels, and an electronic brake for parking. The XC90 also features a 360-degree camera, parking sensors at front, side, and rear, auto park, and Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems like lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control.
The 2025 XC90 facelift continues to have a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol mild-hybrid motor. The motor makes 250 horsepower and 360Nm of torque. The motor drives all four wheels through an auto 'box, getting the SUV from 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. An air suspension package is optional for the XC90, increasing its ground clearance to 267mm and enhancing its off-road capability.
The 2025 Volvo XC90 is a luxury SUV that rivals other luxury SUV models such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, and Audi Q7. Even though it doesn't come with a diesel engine as in the Audi Q7, it's a petrol mild-hybrid engine. Technology, safety, and design are the primary areas that the XC90 is sold on, and for that reason, it is a great contender in this luxury SUV segment.
