The Swedish luxury automaker, Volvo recently introduced the updated XC90 in India at Rs 1.03 crore. At this price point, it competes with the Mercedes GLE, Audi Q7 and BMW X5. The 2025 Volvo XC90 facelift is slightly more expensive than its predecessor, and receives significant upgrades inside and out. Here are all major differences between the new Volvo XC90 and its old model.
As mentioned above, the updated XC90 is being offered at Rs 1.03 crore (ex-showroom). The pre-facelift version was available at Rs 1.01 crore, ex-showroom. So, the new model has witnessed a marginal price hike of Rs 2 lakh.
The original silhouette and design language remain intact. However, the 2025 Volvo XC90 looks refreshing with minor cosmetic changes including a slightly revised front grille with diagonal slats, redesigned front and rear bumpers, slimmer ‘Thor’ hammer headlamps, newly-designed 20-inch alloy wheels and darker taillamps. Buyers have the option to choose air suspension, with ground clearance ranging between 267mm – 238mm.
No changes have been made to its dimensions. Similar to the old XC90, the updated one measures 4,953 mm in length, 1,931 mm in width and 1,773 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,984 mm, and a fuel tank capacity of 71-litres. A new Mulberry Red colour scheme has been added to the lineup along with the regular five shades – Denim Blue, Onyx Black, Bright Dusk, Crystal White and Vapour Grey.
The interior layout and features of the 2025 Volvo XC90 facelift are identical to the pre-facelift XC90. However, a few upgrades further enhance its premium cabin experience. The updated XC90 comes with a larger, portrait-styled 11.2-inch touchscreen with a new user interface and, better resolution. The unit supports OTA software updates. The SUV’s new model also gets a wireless phone charger, a 360 degree camera, and sound insulation materials.
The rest of the features remain unchanged, including a 19-speaker Bowers and Wikins sound system, Nappa leather seats with ventilation function, powered front seats with memory function, a panoramic sunroof, air purifier with a PM2.5 filter, Pilot assist and seven airbags.
No changes have been made under the hood. The 2025 Volvo CX90 continues to use the same 2.0L turbocharged mild hybrid powertrain, paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. This setup delivers a maximum power of 250 bhp and 360 Nm of torque. Power is delivered to the all four wheels. The SUV accelerates 0 to 100kmph in 7.7 seconds.
