Maruti to launch new SUV on September 3, likely e Vitara or Escudo e Vitara to offer two battery options with up to 428 km range Escudo may rival Hyundai Creta with mild and strong hybrid options
Maruti Suzuki is preparing for a big launch on September 3, 2025, but the company has not yet confirmed the name of the upcoming SUV. It could either be the all-electric Maruti e Vitara or a new midsize SUV named Maruti Escudo.
While we wait for an official confirmation, here’s a quick look at what these two models could offer.
Maruti e Vitara has already been showcased in a near-production form at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. Based on the EVX concept, the e Vitara will be Maruti’s first electric SUV in India.
Key Exterior Highlights:
- Sharp LED headlamps with Y-shaped DRLs
- Wide cladding on bumpers, doors, and wheel arches
- Connected LED tail lamps
Features on Offer:
- Ambient lighting and ventilated seats
- Harman sound system
- 10-way power-adjustable driver seat
- 7 airbags (standard)
- Level 2 ADAS with 360-degree camera, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control
Battery & Performance:
The e Vitara will come with two LFP battery options:
- 49 kWh battery with 346 km range (142 bhp)
- 61 kWh battery with 428 km range (172 bhp)
Both versions offer 192.5 Nm torque and will be powered by a single motor.
Another strong contender for the launch is the Maruti Escudo, a five-seater ICE SUV that will sit below the Grand Vitara in the lineup. It is expected to be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara and may be sold via the Arena network, making it more accessible.
Exterior Highlights:
Based on spy images, the Escudo will borrow styling cues from both the Grand Vitara and e Vitara.
- Upright grille with angular LED headlamps
- New bumper with LED fog lamps
- Wider air dam and front skid plate
- Connected LED tail lamps and new alloy wheels
Interior Features:
- 9-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Semi-digital instrument cluster
- Automatic climate control
- Sunroof and multiple airbags
Expected Engine Options:
- 1.5L mild hybrid petrol engine
- 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engine
The mild hybrid variant could be offered in multiple trims.
Expected Price Range:
Maruti Escudo could be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), directly competing with the Hyundai Creta and other midsize SUVs.
