The electric sedan will be offered in two variants - CLA 200 Standard Range and CLA 250+ Long Range. Interested customers can pre-book the new electric sedan online or at authorised Mercedes dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh.
Customers who pre-book the new CLA will receive a complimentary wall box home charger for free. We expect the new CLA to cost somewhere around Rs 50 lakh to Rs 60 lakh, ex-showroom. It will be the brand’s entry-level electric offering, and comes as a replacement for the A-Class Limousine, EQA and EQB EVs.
Dimensionally, the new Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is 4723mm long, 1855mm wide and 1468mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2790mm. The sedan has a boot space of 405-litres and a front frunk of 101-litres of capacity. It is 30mm longer, 25mm wider and 25mm taller than the previous model. Key features include wireless phone charging, six 100W USB-C fast charging ports, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, 16 speaker Burmester sound system, 360 degree surround view camera and LEVEL-2 ADAS tech.
The new CLA EV is built on the new 800-volt electrical architecture. It is packed with a 85kWh battery pack, which is claimed to offer a range of 792km on the WLTP cycle. The company claims that the CLA electric has 93 percent drivetrain efficiency and aerodynamic design, which contributes to higher efficiency. It comes with two-speed gearbox, and the rear-axle-mounted electric motor is rated at 272bhp. The CLA 250+ is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 6.7 seconds. The electric car supports fast charging, and it can achieve 400km of range in just 20 minutes of charging using high-speed 240kW DC fast charging.
