Honda 0 Alpha arriving in 2027 Tata Sierra EV to launch in Q2, 2026
The electric SUVs are gaining traction, which is evident from the rising sales of cars like Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XEV 9S, Tata Nexon EV and the new VinFast EVs. The midsize EV category is the most in demand, and multiple new EVs are set to be launched in the same segment. Toyota is set to announce the prices of the Urban Cruiser EBella, which is basically the re-badged version of the Maruti e Vitara. Two more midsize electric SUVs from Tata Motors and Honda are set to arrive in our market in the next 1 year.
Tata Motors has already confirmed that the latest Sierra will receive an EV derivative. The Tata Sierra EV is scheduled to be introduced in the Q2, 2026. On the other hand, Honda Cars India will introduce its all-new electric SUV based on the 0 Alpha concept. This EV is set to go on sale in the first half of 2027. These two SUVs will take on the likes of the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

The new Sierra EV has already been teased in an high-octane TV commercial. It will be based on the Acti.ev modular platform that also underpins the Curvv EV and Punch EV. The electric SUV is likely to be offered with two battery choices, including a 55kWh and a 65kWh. It will be a front-wheel-drive electric SUV; however, the higher-spec model with 65kWh battery will also get a dual-motor AWD (All-Wheel Drive) setup.
The electric SUV is expected to offer a realistic range of around 400-450km in a single charge. It will share most of its features and cabin layout with the ICE-powered Sierra. The Tata Sierra Electric will have a triple screen dashboard comprising a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch co-occupant screen and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. In terms of features, the SUV will have full-LED tech, ventilated and powered front seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, LEVEL 2 ADAS, electronic parking brake with auto hold and others.
Honda had showcased the 0 Alpha SUV concept at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, which is the smallest member of the brand’s 0 Series of EVs. The company has confirmed that the production version of this concept will arrive in our market in 2027. It will be locally produced in India for domestic as well as international markets. The new e-SUV will be based on an all-new skateboard platform.
Honda has confirmed that the electric SUV will have a wheelbase length of around 2700-2800mm, which should allow engineers to offer spacious cabin. It will be offered with two battery pack options, both will have LFP batteries. The exact battery capacity is yet to be revealed, but we expect the SUV to get around 65kWh-75kWh units with a front-axle-mounted electric motor.
