Tata Motors has finally released the prices of the Harrier petrol, which is surprisingly cheaper than the newly launched Sierra turbo petrol. The Tata Harrier turbo petrol range starts at Rs 12.89 lakh and extends up to Rs 24.69 lakh, ex-showroom. The company has also introduced the petrol-powered Safari. All three SUVs are powered by the same 1.5L direct-injection motor.

The Harrier petrol is available in 8 trim levels - Smart, Pure X, Adventure X, Adventure X+, Fearless X, Fearless X+, Fearless Ultra and Fearless Ultra Red Dark. The base variant is priced at Rs 12.89 lakh, while the top-spec model costs Rs 24.69 lakh, ex-showroom, Pan-India.

It is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 170hp and 280Nm, and is paired to either a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. The torque converter unit is sourced from Aisin, which also worked closely with Tata Motors to achieve great combination. While powering the Sierra, the same powertrain produces 160hp and 255Nm. For people not in the know, the diesel version gets a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder unit that produces 170hp and 350Nm, and is paired with either a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.


Note - The Tata Sierra turbo petrol range starts at Rs 18 lakh and extends up to Rs 21 lakh, ex-showroom.

Safety Features


The new Tata Harrier petrol gets 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, a tyre pressure monitoring system, all-4 disc brakes, and others. It also gets LEVEL 2+ ADAS with features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, auto high beam, lane assist and others. 


Competition


The 5-seater Tata Harrier directly rivals the MG Hector and the Jeep Compass. In fact, the SUV could impact the sales of select mid-sized SUVs, including Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun.
