Tata Harrier gets 1.5L turbo petrol engine Offers 10bhp and 25Nm more than the Sierra petrol Gets 14.5-inch touchscreen
Tata Motors is all set to launch the new Harrier and Safari with petrol engine in our market. Details about the new petrol-powered Tata Harrier and Safari have been officially revealed. Both SUVs are powered by a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol engine that also powers the Tata Sierra. However, the Harrier gets a differently tuned version of this engine which offers more power and torque compared to the Sierra 1.5L turbo.
While powering the Tata Harrier, the 1.5-litre Hyperion petrol engine produces 168bhp and 280Nm of torque. It can be paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. The same engine produces 158bhp and 255Nm with Sierra. Moreover, the Tata Sierra comes with a single 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox option. The Harrier petrol offers 10bhp and 25Nm more power and torque output, respectively, than the Sierra turbo petrol.
The Harrier petrol is available in 8 variants, Smart, Pure X, Pure X Dark, Adventure, Adventure X Dark, Fearless X, Fearless X Dark, and Fearless X Stealth. The top-spec model also gets some new features such as a larger 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, new digital IRVM with a camera integrated into the shark-fin antenna, washers for front and rear cameras, memory ORVM with auto dip in reverse gear, and 10-speaker JBL Sound system with Dolby Atmos.
Tata has not released the prices of the Harrier petrol and Safari petrol. We expect the new models to cost around Rs 1 lakh lesser than the equivalent diesel variants. It will directly rival the likes of the Mahindra XUV 7XO (XUV700 facelift), MG Hector twins and the Hyundai Alcazar. Moreover, Renault will also launch its new 7-seater SUV in our market in 2027.
