It is no secret that SUVs are replacing sedans and hatchbacks among urban car buyers in India. However, few brands still offer sedans which are doing decent sales. In the mid-sized sedan segment, 3 popular cars, including Slavia, Virtus and Verna will receive mid-life upgrades in 2026.
The fourth-generation Hyundai Verna will receive its first major upgrade in 2026. It will come with cosmetic design and interior changes; however, engine choices will remain the same. The design changes will be made to the front and rear, featuring redesigned headlamps and tail-lights, revised grille and bumpers.
The cabin will receive significant changes, as it will have new dual curved screens, which we have recently seen on the new Venue compact SUV. The sedan could also get a longer list of features. The engine options will include a 1.5-litre turbo petrol and 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual, a CVT automatic and a 7-speed DCT.
Skoda and Volkswagen will give mid-life updates to its popular mid-sized sedans, the Slavia and Virtus, respectively. The updated models will receive design and interior changes along with a new list of features. On the outside, the updated Skoda Slavia and Virtus are likely to get revised front fascia with an updated grille, slightly tweaked headlamps and new bumper. Other changes could include an updated rear bumper, modern LED lighting system and new set of alloys.
The cabin is likely to receive improved infotainment and driver’s display. In terms of features, the new Slavia and VW Virtus facelift to get a 360-degree surround view camera, a new sound system and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. The new models are also likely to get LEVEL 2 ADAS and a panoramic sunroof. Engine choices will remain the same - a 115hp, 1.0L turbo petrol with 6MT and 6-speed torque converter, and a 150hp, 1.5L turbo petrol with 7-speed DCT.
