A lot is coming for SUV lovers soon. Models like the Tata Sierra 2025, Mahindra XUV700 facelift, and Mahindra XEV 9S are some of the biggest launches set for early 2026. Plus, more midsize SUVs from Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Renault, and Nissan are also on the way, offering new petrol, diesel, and electric choices.
Here is a list of upcoming mid-size SUVs in early 2026:
The Tata new car launch 2025 lineup is led by one of the most awaited models - the Tata Sierra 2025. It retains the iconic boxy design but gets connected LED light bars, a black roof insert, flush door handles and a fresh red colour option. Inside, the cabin features a premium dual-tone theme and a long triple-screen dashboard layout. Features confirmed include a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, dual-zone climate control, multiple drive modes and a JBL sound system. Engine options are likely to include a 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with manual and automatic gearboxes.

Right after the ICE launch on November 25, Tata will introduce the Tata Sierra EV. It will share the same bold exterior and triple-screen interior layout. Expected range is around 450-500 km on a single charge. It will compete with upcoming models like the Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE.6 and MG ZS EV.
Mahindra will launch the XEV 9S on November 27. This is the electric version of the XUV700 and will be offered as a 7-seater. It is built on Mahindra’s INGLO EV platform and is expected to support fast charging and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations. Features will include a panoramic sunroof, ADAS and flush door handles. The price is expected to fall between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new-gen Renault Duster will launch in India on January 26, 2026, with production starting in December. It will enter the midsize SUV space against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Victoris and especially the Tata Sierra 2025. However, it will initially be offered only with petrol engines, which may be a challenge in a segment where diesel is still popular. The Duster will offer a 1.3L turbo-petrol engine with manual and DCT gearbox choices, along with features like a large touchscreen, digital cluster, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof and Level 2 ADAS.
The Maruti e Vitara launch has been pushed to Q2 2026 due to rare earth material shortages. It will offer two battery packs: 48.9 kWh and 61.1 kWh, with the larger pack offering up to 500 km range. It will rival the Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE.6 and Hyundai Creta EV.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV is based on the same platform as the e Vitara and will also offer two battery pack setups with up to 500 km range. It is expected to enter the Indian market after its European rollout in late 2025.
The XUV700 facelift is planned for early 2026. It will get a refreshed grille, updated lighting and an upgraded cabin with more tech. The XUV700 facelift launch date is highly anticipated as the SUV will continue to use the current 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel engines with performance refinements. It will continue to compete with the Tata Safari and Hyundai Tucson.
The Nissan Tekton will enter the midsize SUV segment in the first half of 2026. Based on the same platform as the new Duster, it will come with a more muscular, Patrol-inspired design.
