Ford left the Indian automobile market in 2021 after incurring significant losses for multiple years. The exit also meant the discontinuation of one of the most popular full-size SUVs in the country, the Endeavour. However, the latest media reports suggest that the American automaker is planning to make a return to India in the near future with the All-New Endeavour. We take a closer look at the Next-generation SUV.
New Ford Endeavour: Exterior Design and Interior Features
The brand launched the new Endeavour (Everest in the international markets) by early 2023. The SUV features a new design language inspired from the company’s pick-up truck portfolio. The front end features LED DRLS and a black grille that provides a wide chrome bar which merges into the C-shaped headlights. Move to the side and you will notice the slightly flared wheel arches, strong shoulder line, large glass area , and aluminium-finished roof rails. While the rear offers a roof spoiler, chunky bumper, and inverted-L shaped LED tail lights.
It comes loaded with features like a 12-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Connected Car Tech, ventilated & powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera. The four-wheeler will cater to ADAS-features like Blind Spot Monitoring, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and more.
New Ford Endeavour: Powertrain Details
In global markets, the Endeavour is offered with two diesel powertrain options. The smaller 2-litre bi-turbo diesel motor makes 210 bhp with 500 Nm of peak torque. While the larger 3.2-litre turbo diesel engine churns out 191 bhp with 470 Nm of peak torque. Both powertrains come mated to a 10-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. We expect Ford to offer the 2-litre turbo diesel option only in India.
New Ford Endeavour: Launch and Rivals
While Ford is yet to make an official comeback in the Indian auto market, expect the new Endeavour to be one of the first models to be introduced in the country. The American manufacturer is likely to bring the SUV into India via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route to price it more competitively.
Upon launch, the hardcore off-road SUV will rival the likes of the MG Gloster, Jeep Meridian, Škoda Kodiaq, and the Toyota Fortuner in its segment.
