Hyundai Palisade India launch by 2028 To get a 2.5L strong hybrid powertrain To rival Toyota Fortuner
Hyundai India has officially announced to launch 30 new models, including the newly launched new-gen Venue compact SUV in the country by 2030. The company will enter the new segments, including a 7-seater MPV, off-road SUV segment and hybrids. In fact, the global flagship SUV, the Hyundai Palisade India launch has also been confirmed for 2028.
Slated to sit above the Tucson, the Hyundai Palisade is a bold, boxy 3-row SUV that’s positioned between the mass-market SUVs and luxury SUVs from brands like BMW and Mercedes. While the second-generation model has already been introduced globally, Hyundai India has confirmed that the Palisade will lead its “premium offensive” as a flagship strong hybrid SUV.
The global-spec model is available with multiple powertrains, including the 2.5 T-GDI petrol engine that produces 281PS and a 2.5L T-GDI hybrid. The India-spec Palisade is expected to feature Hyundai’s new-generation 2.5-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain.
- Combined Power and Torque: 335hp and 460Nm
- Fuel Efficiency: Claimed mileage of 14.1kmpl, which is around 45 percent better than non-hybrid petrol engines in its category
- Total Range: it is claimed to offer a 1015km of range on a single tank, which resolves issues related to the “range anxiety”.
- Drivetrain: 6-speed automatic gearbox, intelligent AWD system with multiple terrain modes - Mud, Snow, Sand. Three drive modes - Eco, Sport and My Drive.

The Palisade is a three-row full-size SUV measuring 4980mm in length, 1975mm in width and 1750mm in height. The SUV has a long wheelbase of 2900mm, which translates into a spacious cabin to accommodate 7-8 passengers. With all-row rows in position, the 7-seater SUV offers a boot space of around 595-litres which can go up to 2464-litres by folding the rear seats.
The new-gen Palisade comes with a boxy silhouette with seems inspired by the “Range Rover”. It sports vertically slatted LED headlamps, a massive Parametric Jewel front grille and rides on 21-inch alloy wheels.
- Dual 12.3-inch curved display setup for the infotainment and digital driver’s display.
- 14-speaker Bose sound system
- Nappa leather upholstery
- Fingerprint sensor to start the engine
- Ventilated and heated functions for the first two rows
- Panoramic sunroof
- 360-degree surround view camera
- Wireless charging slot
- V2L functionality
- Powered front and second-row seats
- ADAS suite
- Built-in dash cam
Hyundai has officially announced to launch the Palisade full-size SUV in India by 2028. The new model could be introduced as a CKD unit; however, the company is also considering to localise the Palisade in India and export it to other markets. We expect the new Hyundai Palisade to price somewhere around Rs 50 lakh. It will directly rival the Toyota Fortuner, which is set to receive a generation change in 2027.
