Hyundai Palisade hybrid SUV to launch in India in 2028. It will feature Hyundai’s next-gen 2.5L turbo hybrid powertrain.
Hyundai Motor India is gearing up to foray the growing hybrid vehicle segment with the launch of the next-gen Creta hybrid in 2027. Following the introduction of the all-new Creta, the carmaker will introduce the Hyundai Ni1i (codenamed), Hyundai Palisade and the new-gen Hyundai Venue. The three-row SUV Ni1i SUV, which is expected to be based on the long-wheelbase Hyundai Tucson sold in China, is likely to arrive sometime next year.
The next-gen Kia Sonet is reported to receive a strong hybrid powertrain in the coming years. Therefore, it’s Hyundai sibling – the Venue – is also expected to go hybrid in the future. The Hyundai Palisade will be the brand’s flagship model, slated to launch in 2028. The carmaker might plan to localize this 7/8-seater SUV for India, and export to select global markets. Once launched, it’s estimated to be priced around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Globally, the Hyundai Palisade is available with the brand’s next-gen 2.5L, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 300V high-voltage battery system. It comes with FWD and AWD drivetrain configurations, depending on the market. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The new hybrid powertrain is claimed to be 19 percent more powerful and 45 percent efficient than the standard 2.5L petrol engine. The hybrid setup delivers a combined power of 334bhp and 460Nm of torque, while promising a total driving range of 1,015km. It’s claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of 14.1kmpl. The SUV comes with three drive modes – Eco, Sport and My Drive, and three terrain modes – Mud, Snow and Sand.
The Hyundai Palisade features a three-row cabin layout with reclinable second-row captain seats with deployable footrests and the bench-type third-row seat.
As Hyundai’s flagship SUV, the Palisade comes packed with several advanced connectivity and comfort features such as a dual-screen setup (a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display), centre console with fingerprint sensor to start the engine, a three-spoke steering wheel, a wireless charging slot, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered seats with heating and cooling, a 14-speaker Bose sound system,a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, a digital key, vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality,a built-in dashcam, a rear parking camera cleaning system, an ADAS suite and more.
