Citroen Basalt will be direct rival to Tata Curvv The Basalt coupe SUV will sit above the Citroen C3 Aircross It will use the same turbo-petrol engine as C3 Aircross
The French automaker, Citroen is planning to introduce one more addition to its car lineup in India. It will be a new Basalt Coupe SUV. A few details regarding its design and features have surfaced online. While some of us are aware of its distinctive design language, others have tons of questions in their minds regarding its price and specifications.
Here is the list of top queries we received from different people about the upcoming Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV. Know your answers now!
Citroen will bring a coupe SUV, Basalt, to India. This will be the fourth model in the brand’s C-cubed project in India. It will be a direct rival to the upcoming Tata Curvv.
Citroen Basalt is a coupe-like SUV that is expected to be the next offering in the Indian market. It is basically an SUV with a Coupe-like roofline. It has a strongly tapered roofline that merges with the glass area to give a fast-back or coupe-like design.
The Basalt will be based on the same Common Modular Platform (CMP) that underpins other Citroen cars such as C3, eC3, and C3 Aircross. Even the powertrain option is expected to be the same as C3 Aircross. However, the upcoming Basalt will boast a unique body styling along with a tech-loaded interior. This will be a premium offering from the brand, setting it apart from the C3 Aircross.
The Citroen Basalt will be positioned above the C3 Aircross which is priced between Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 14.33 lakh (ex-showroom). As for the Basalt, we can assume a bit of premium pricing, somewhere around Rs 11 lakh to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
The accurate dimensions of the coupe SUV have not been revealed yet. It will be a premium alternative to the C3 Aircross and will measure around 4.3 meters in length. Due to the sloping roofline, we expect Basalt to have a shorter height compared to the C3 Aircross’ 1665mm height.
It will be powered by the same engine as the C3 Aircross, we can assume a similar power output for the Basalt. The power and torque of 1.2-litre turbo-charged petrol stands at 109 bhp and 190 Nm, respectively, however, Citroen might tweak the state of tune for the Basalt.
Unlike C3 Aircross, the new Basalt will offer a premium-looking interior layout with more tech features. Some of the amenities might include a dual screen for touchscreen infotainment and instrument console, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless charging, tilt & telescopic adjustable steering wheel, and more.
Citroen has not revealed the mileage of its upcoming Basalt coupe SUV. As for the C3 Aircross mileage, it is 17.6 for the automatic petrol and 18.5 kmpl for the manual petrol variant.
No, the Citroen Basalt will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. There is no news regarding its diesel engine addition for now.
Citroen Basalt will make its debut in production avatar on August 2, 2024, While the exact launch date is yet to be revealed, we expect the prices of the SUV Coupe could be revealed in late August or in September 2024.
Citroen Basalt will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. This engine can produce a maximum power of 109 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Citroen Basalt will be a great competitor to Tata Curvv due to its unique body styling. Both cars will come with a catchy exterior design and feature-loaded interior. While the Basalt will be offered with one turbo-petrol engine, the Curvv will be available with petrol, diesel, and electric variants.
