Kia Carens EV, Clavis EV To Launch In India In Next 2 Years

The Korean automaker Kia is planning to introduce 3 new electric vehicles in the Indian market in the next couple of years. This year, the company will introduce its flagship Kia EV9 3-row electric SUV. Adding to it, Kia will introduce two more mass-market EVs to grab market share in the EV space. The official details about the products are yet to be revealed, but media reports reveal that Kia could launch the Clavis EV and the Carens EV in India.

Kia Clavis EV

Kia will introduce the Clavis compact SUV in our market sometime in early 2025. The new compact SUV has been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads. It will be offered with both ICE and EV powertrains. The ICE version will arrive first, while the EV is expected in late 2025. The new model will sit between the Sonet and Seltos, in terms of size. This new electric compact SUV will directly rival the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV400. The new Clavis EV is expected to feature around 35kWh to 40kWh battery pack and a front-axle mounted electric motor. It is likely to offer a range of up to 400km on a single charge.

The new Kia Clavis will be positioned as a rugged SUV, and will target lifestyle SUV buyers. The new model is likely to be equipped with a 360 degree surround view camera, digital instrument console, powered driver's seat, ventilated front seat and ADAS tech.

Kia Carens EV

Likely to be launched in 2025 or 2026, the new Kia Carens EV will be a part of Kia's global lineup of 15 EVs by 2027. The Carens EV will be initially launched in India. While details about the electric MPV are yet to be revealed, we expect it to get several high-end features. It is expected to feature a digital instrument console, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, ventilated front seats, and an electric sunroof. The electric MPV is also likely to get a few advanced driver assistance features such as autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane assist and others. The new MPV is likely to be fitted with a bigger battery pack with an estimated range of up to 500km on a single charge.
