Lexus has launched the updated made-in-India ES300h at a starting price of Rs 59.71 lakh (ex-showroom). The automaker had announced local production of the ES back in 2020 as a sign of Lexus’ commitment to India. With this India becomes the fourth country to produce a Lexus.
Like with the updated to the Toyota Camry, we see little to no difference to the exterior design of the Lexus ES300h. The biggest change on the sedan is on the inside.
The Lexus ES300h now gets a new touchscreen infotainment unit (that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), hands-free opening and closing of the tailgate and Lexus dynamic voice recognition feature. The automaker has also improved the storage area around the centre console for added practicality.
The Lexus ES300h uses a strong hybrid powertrain setup that uses a 2.5-litre petrol engine and an 88kW electric motor. The combined power output of the system is rated at 218 bhp and comes mated to an e-CVT automatic transmission.
The sedan will be available in two variants – Exquisite and Luxury. The Exquisite variant is priced at Rs 59.71 lakh while the Luxury variant will set you back by Rs 65.81 lakh. Do note that all prices are ex-showroom.
The Lexus ES300h competes against the likes of the Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6, Jaguar XF, and the BMW 5-series.
