Mahindra XUV700 Facelift to Rebrand as XUV 7XO: Launch Expected in 2026

Mahindra is preparing to update its popular flagship SUV, the XUV700, with a significant facelift. Expected to launch in 2026, the refreshed model could arrive with a new name — Mahindra XUV 7XO. Although initial reports hinted at a 2025 launch, Mahindra has confirmed that no major updates will be introduced this year, pushing the expected release to 2026.

No Major Updates in 2025, XUV 7XO Trademark Filed

Despite the buzz surrounding an early update, Mahindra has officially clarified that the XUV700 will not undergo any major changes in 2025. However, the automaker has filed a trademark for the "XUV 7XO" nameplate, strongly hinting at a significant facelift planned for the near future. The rebranding is likely part of a broader strategy to reposition the SUV with a fresh identity and enhanced features.

Mahindra XUV700 Facelift (XUV 7XO): Futuristic Design

The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 facelift, internally codenamed W616, is expected to draw heavy design inspiration from Mahindra’s latest electric SUV concepts, including the BE.06 and XUV.e9.

Key exterior updates may include:

  • Connected LED headlight setup
  • Redesigned front grille
  • Sharper lines and cleaner surfaces
  • Squared-off wheel arches

Major Interior Upgrades Expected: Triple-Screen Layout, New Features

Inside the cabin, the Mahindra XUV 7XO is likely to receive major changes. The biggest highlight could be a triple-screen layout, consisting of:

  • A digital instrument cluster
  • A central infotainment screen
  • A passenger-side display

Other expected new features include:

  • NFC-based keyless unlocking
  • Two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated Mahindra logo
  • Harman Kardon 16-speaker premium sound system
  • Augmented reality head-up display (HUD)
  • Auto-parking assist
  • Dual wireless smartphone charging

Powertrain Options to Remain Unchanged

Under the hood, the facelifted Mahindra XUV 7XO is expected to retain the current model’s engine lineup:

  • 2.0-litre turbo petrol: 195 bhp and 380 Nm, available with 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic
  • 2.2-litre turbo diesel:
    • 151 bhp/360 Nm with 6-speed manual (lower tune)
    • 180 bhp/420 Nm (manual) or 450 Nm (automatic) in the higher tune

Mahindra XUV 7XO: Launch Timeline

With Mahindra ruling out any major update in 2025, the XUV 7XO is now expected to launch sometime in 2026. As the brand gears up for a major portfolio expansion — including electric SUVs — the XUV 7XO will play a crucial role in strengthening brand’s position in the premium SUV segment.
