New GLE gets hybrid and plug-in hybrid options MBUX Superscreen and tech upgrades added India launch likely in 2027
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the updated Mercedes-Benz GLE facelift in global markets. This marks the second facelift of the fourth-generation model, bringing close to 3,000 new or revised components.
The update focuses on improving performance, adding hybrid technology, and enhancing overall comfort and features. The GLE continues to be offered in SUV, coupe, and AMG versions.
One of the biggest highlights of the update is the introduction of new hybrid options. The GLE 450e plug-in hybrid now gets a more powerful inline-6 engine, replacing the older four-cylinder unit.
It offers better performance and a claimed electric-only range of up to 105km, making it more efficient for daily use.
The GLE 450 also continues with its 3.0-litre inline-6 engine but now produces higher torque. Meanwhile, the range-topping GLE 580 retains its V8 engine with a slight increase in power and torque.

The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 also sees significant updates. It is now available with both mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid options.
The plug-in hybrid version delivers a combined output of 585hp and 750Nm. This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
The updated powertrain also improves responsiveness and reduces turbo lag, making it more engaging to drive.
Mercedes-Benz has introduced new mechanical upgrades to enhance ride quality and handling. The GLE now features a cloud-based damper control system that can adjust suspension settings based on road conditions.
Systems like E-Active Body Control and AMG Active Ride Control further improve stability and reduce body roll, offering a more comfortable and controlled driving experience.
The cabin has been significantly updated with the addition of the MBUX Superscreen, which includes three 12.3-inch displays across the dashboard.
The system runs on the brand’s latest operating system with AI-based features. This system was recently seen in the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric.
Other highlights include ambient lighting, new steering controls, improved seats, and multiple interior themes. The SUV also comes with features like a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, premium sound system, and advanced driver assistance systems.
On the outside, the GLE facelift gets a refreshed look with a redesigned grille featuring tri-star elements and an illuminated logo.
It also gets new LED headlamps, updated bumpers, and revised tail-lamps. The AMG version adds sportier styling details, larger wheels, and quad exhaust outlets.
The updated GLE SUV and coupe are expected to go on sale in global markets by the end of 2026. The India launch is likely to take place in 2027.
