According to news reports coming in, Mercedes-Benz is planning to launch the all-new GLB in India around December 2022. Expected to arrive as a CBU, imported from Mexico, this will be the 9th Mercedes-Benz SUV model to be sold in India.

The Mercedes-Benz GLB shares its MFA II platform with the GLA but has a more upright design. With its twin-slat front grille, a flat bonnet and a kink on the D-pillar, the GLB looks like a mini-GLS from many angles. For a more butch look, the company has also provided the three-row SUV with faux skid plates at the front and rear and functional roof rails as well.

Moving to the inside, the GLB’s interior is like all the recent Mercedes-Benz launches. The dashboard is dominated by twin 10.25-inch touch-screen setup; one for the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment unit. Other features include ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, and sliding second-row seats among others.

Mercedes-Benz is expected to offer the GLB in both petrol and diesel forms in India. This includes a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol churning out 163 bhp and 250 Nm along with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel making 190 bhp and 400 Nm. Transmission options on the SUV are expected to include a 7-speed or an 8-speed automatic. Mercedes will also be offering its 4MATIC AWD on the GLB.
