Audi has revealed the new A5 sedan for the global market. With the introduction of the latest A5, the German automaker has replaced the A4 model from the brand's global lineup that has been on sale for the last 30 years. It will be offered in two body styles - Sportback (Sedan) and Avant (Estate). The former body styling could be available for the Indian market.
The latest A5 is based on the brand's new Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture, replacing the old MLB architecture used in Audi A4. The new platform is capable of accommodating multiple electrified powertrains.
With the introduction of the PPC platform, the A5 measures 4.83m in length, and 1.86 m in width, which is almost 67mm longer and 13mm wider than the outdated A4. Even the wheelbase is 86mm longer, ensuring more space in the second row.
From the outside, the A5 looks sharper than its predecessor. It features a larger front grille and massive air vents on both sides. Other notable exterior design elements include flared wheel arches and an OLED light unit that can feature up to 8 patterns.
In terms of tech features, the new A5 comes with a large curved screen, incorporating 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment and an 11.9-inch digital driver display. Besides, the car offers a 10.9-inch touchscreen for the front passenger, seat heating & ventilation functions, climate control, and more.
For the new A5, the brand will offer both pure-ICE and mild-hybrid choices. The 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine will have two states of tune - 150 bhp and 204 bhp. However, the latter option will get the Quattro AWD system. Another 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine will generate 204 bhp of power with the brand's new MHEV Plus system. The top performer S5 will be capable of producing 361 bhp from its 3.0-litre V6 mild-hybrid unit.
