New Audi Q7 Gets 6 Seats, Captain Chairs, Triple Screens & More

Audi Q7 gets a new 6-seat option with captain chairs. Triple-screen dashboard and premium features added. V6 petrol and diesel engines continue with Quattro AWD.

Audi has taken the wraps off the all-new third-generation Q7, bringing major changes inside and out. The luxury SUV replaces the previous-generation model after more than a decade and comes packed with new technology, fresh styling and a new 6-seat layout with captain chairs.

The new Q7 will continue to rival the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE in global markets and is also expected to make its way to India in the future.

New 6-Seat Option With Captain Chairs

One of the biggest updates is the addition of a new 6-seat configuration. Buyers can now choose between 5-seat, 6-seat and 7-seat layouts.

The 6-seat version gets individual captain chairs in the second row, offering a more premium experience for rear passengers. This setup is becoming increasingly popular among luxury SUV buyers who prefer comfort over maximum seating capacity.

Triple-Screen Cabin Loaded With Features

Step inside and the biggest highlight is the new triple-screen dashboard layout. The cabin looks far more modern than before and takes inspiration from Audi's latest luxury models.

The SUV also gets a new four-spoke steering wheel, premium wood and leather trim, dual wireless charging pads and a redesigned centre console.

Other features include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, connected car technology, powered seats, a 360-degree camera and an advanced ADAS suite.

Audi has also equipped the Q7 with a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen 4D sound system for a premium audio experience.

Sharper and More Muscular Design

The new Q7 gets a completely redesigned exterior with a more upright stance and stronger road presence.

At the front, it features split LED headlamps with slim daytime running lights positioned above the main Matrix LED units. A larger grille and redesigned bumper further enhance its bold look.

The rear gets connected tail lamps, an illuminated Audi logo and a new bumper design. Audi also offers alloy wheels ranging from 20 inches to 23 inches.

Powerful Petrol and Diesel Engines

The new Q7 is built on Volkswagen Group's Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture.

Depending on the market, buyers can choose between a 2.9-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 and a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine. Both come paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The petrol version produces 429 hp and 599 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.8 seconds.

SQ7 Brings V8 Performance

For those looking for even more performance, Audi will offer the sporty SQ7 variant.

It is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine producing 591 hp and 800 Nm of torque. Audi claims it can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds.

India Launch Expected Later

Audi will begin taking orders for the new Q7 in Europe this month, with deliveries scheduled to start in September 2026.

While Audi has not announced an India launch timeline yet, the flagship SUV is expected to arrive in the country at a later stage, bringing its new design, premium cabin and additional seating options to Indian buyers.
