Audi Q9 has made its global debut as the brand's flagship SUV. It gets three-row seating, luxury features and a V6 powertrain. India is expected to receive a petrol-powered version in the future.
Audi has taken the wraps off the all-new Q9, its biggest and most luxurious SUV yet. Positioned above the Q7 and Q8, the new flagship SUV has been designed to offer more space, comfort and technology than any other Audi SUV.
While the Q9 has debuted with a diesel mild-hybrid powertrain globally, the India-spec model is expected to come with a petrol engine. The luxury SUV is also likely to arrive in India through the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route initially.

The new Audi Q9 measures more than 5.3 metres in length, making it the largest SUV the company has ever produced. It comes with three rows of seats as standard, while customers can also choose a six-seat version with individual captain seats in the second row. The Q9 has been designed with comfort in mind, making it suitable for long-distance travel.
On the outside, the SUV gets a bold front-end design, Audi's latest curved OLED tail-lamps and a clean, modern look. It also features powered doors, the brand's largest panoramic sunroof, adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering.

The cabin is packed with modern technology and luxury features. Audi has equipped the Q9 with a triple-screen dashboard layout, including an Android Automotive-based infotainment system. The SUV also gets a wide range of connected features and advanced driver assistance systems. The spacious interior and premium materials further strengthen its position as Audi's new flagship SUV.
Internationally, the Q9 is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine paired with a mild-hybrid system. The engine develops 299 PS and 630 Nm of torque and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system. However, Audi is expected to offer the Q9 with a petrol engine in India, in line with its current strategy for the luxury SUV market.
Audi already assembles the Q7 locally in India, but the new Q9 is expected to arrive as a CBU import in the initial phase. Depending on customer demand, the company could consider local assembly at a later stage. Once launched, the Audi Q9 will compete with premium full-size luxury SUVs such as the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS and Range Rover.
