Scorpio-N facelift launching this Independence Day, 2026 Jetour T2 PHEV launching this Diwali Hyundai to introduce Bayon midsize SUV

If you are planning to buy a brand-new SUV this festive season, holding off on your booking might be the smartest decision you make. From 1000 km range Plug-in Hybrids to off-road powerhouse and all-new model, here are the top 5 SUVs worth waiting for this Diwali. 


Mahindra Scorpio-N Facelift


The much-anticipated Scorpio-N facelift will be introduced on the occasion of Independence Day, August 15, 2026. It is expected that deliveries for the new model will begin during festive season, late August or September. While retaining its commanding road presence and ladder-frame body, the 2026 Scorpio-N Facelift will address every single interior demand buyers have asked over the last three years. 


The 2026 Scorpio-N will come with a panoramic sunroof, which will be made available on the top-spec model. It will have a revamped dashboard, featuring twin 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and driver’s instrument cluster with full-screen navigation, a 360-degree camera, and a premium Harman Kardon sound system. The SUV will be offered with the same powertrains, including a 203 PS, 2.0L turbo petrol and a 175 PS, 2.2L mHawk diesel. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The top-spec diesel model will also get the shift-on-the-fly 4x4. 


MG Hector Hawk 


New MG PHEV SUV India


JSW MG Motor India has recently showcased its new ADAPT modular platform, which will be used to produce hybrids. Plug-in hybrids, ICE and electric vehicles. The first model based on the platform will be an all-new SUV, which is likely to be the Indianised version of the Wuling Starlight 560 on sale in select international markets. Rumoured to be called the MG Hector Hawk, the new SUV will measure around 4.8 meters in length and will directly rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO. 


The new Hector Hawk is likely to come with both EV and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The PHEV could use a 1.5L petrol engine paired with a 20.5 kWh battery pack, and offers a combined power and torque output of 195 hp and 230 Nm. It is claimed to offer an electric-only driving range of up to 125 Km. The electric version is expected to be packed with a 69.2 kWh battery pack and a 201 hp electric motor. It is claimed to offer a driving range of up to 530 km on a full charge. 


Kia Sorento


KIa Sorento Hybrid


Kia has officially teased its first hybrid SUV, the Sorento in India. In fact, the SUV is available for bookings and interested customers can book the new Sorento online or at Kia dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000. Its launch is expected around September-October 2026. The Korean brand is targeting the festive season, that’s Diwali for the launch of the new flagship hybrid SUV. 


The new Sorento will be offered with 6 and 7-seat layout with former having captain seats in the second row. In terms of features, the SUV will get dual 12.3-inch panoramic curved displays for infotainment and digital instrument console, Bose sound system, dual-zone climate control, HUD, LEVEL 2 ADAS and ventilated second-row seats. 


The Sorento hybrid will be locally assembled in India, and the 3-row SUV is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 28 lakh to Rs 38 lakh, ex-showroom. It is expected to be powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol strong hybrid powertrain, paired with an electric motor. The SUV will also get a 2.2L diesel engine paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. 


Hyundai Bayon


Hyundai will launch its all-new midsize SUV in the Indian market by festive season, before Diwali. The new model will measure around 4.2 meters in length, and will sit between the Venue and the next-generation Creta SUV. It is likely to be the second generation Hyundai Bayon, which carries a more muscular and boxy design. 


Codenamed Bc4i, the new Bayon will be offered with a naturally-aspirated petrol and a CNG powertrain. It is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers the Creta. This engine is capable of producing 114bhp and a peak torque of 144Nm, and is paired to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. 


It will be the first Hyundai model over 4 metres to feature a CNG powertrain. The new model is likely to get the same 1.5L petrol engine with an underbody-mounted CNG tank. The new Hyundai Bayon will directly rival the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. 


JSW Jetour T2


Jetour T2 PHEV INdia


JSW Motors will enter as an independent passenger vehicle brand this festive season, and the Jetour T2 PHEV will be its first product in our market. This boxy, rugged SUV has been designed as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Land Rover Defender.


This model is packed with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine paired with a dual-motor electric setup. The combined power and torque output stands at 381 PS and 691 Nm, respectively. It is likely to be packed with a dedicated 4WD system combined with a 205mm ground clearance, and an aggressive 39-degree approach angle will add to its off-road capabilities. It gets a 26.7 kWh battery pack, and the Jetour T2 offers an EV-only range of around 100-139 km for city commutes. Combined with a full tank of petrol, the total range will cross 1,000 km.
