New-Gen Kia Seltos, Syros EV India Launch in 2026

Kia India is gearing up to launch two new SUVs in the domestic market by the end of FY26 (March 2026); the new-generation Kia Seltos with a strong hybrid powertrain and the Kia Syros EV. The South Korean automaker is focusing on expanding its hybrid and electric vehicle portfolio in India to meet the growing demand for greener mobility.

New-Gen Kia Seltos - Bigger Updates and Hybrid Option

The next-generation Kia Seltos, codenamed SP3i, has been spotted multiple times during road testing in India. It will adopt Kia’s latest ‘Opposites United’ design language, seen on global models like the EV9 and Syros.

Key Design Highlights:

- New vertical LED DRLs and a redesigned front grille
- Sleek LED strip connecting the tail-lamps, similar to the EV5
- Standard 18-inch alloy wheels, previously offered only on GT-Line and X-Line trims

While the interior remains under wraps, Kia is expected to offer significant upgrades and several first-in-segment features. Engine options will include the current 1.5L petrol, 1.5L turbo petrol, and 1.5L diesel units. The biggest change will be the addition of a 1.5L strong hybrid powertrain combining a petrol engine, battery, and electric motor for improved fuel efficiency.

Kia Syros EV - Expanding the EV Lineup

Following the launch of the Carens Clavis EV earlier this year, Kia will introduce the Syros EV in 2026 to compete with models like the Tata Nexon EV, MG Windsor EV, and Mahindra XUV400.

Expected Features & Specifications:

- Based on the ICE-powered Syros SUV, but with EV-specific design tweaks
- Likely to borrow 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs from the Carens Clavis EV
- Claimed range of 404 km and 490 km on a full charge
- Possible use of 42 kWh and 49 kWh batteries from the upcoming Hyundai Inster EV

No New 7-Seater SUV in 2026

Although there were rumours about a new Sorento-based 7-seater SUV with a strong hybrid system, sources suggest it will not be part of Kia’s 2026 India lineup.
