It was speculated that Jeep won't introduce the next generation Renegade, as the SUV failed to generate volumes. However, media reports claim that the company has already started working on the second generation of the Jeep Renegade UV.
The current generation SUV is designed and developed on the Small Wide 4x4 platform, which first debuted in 2005 with the Punto. The platform received multiple updates before reaching the current form to adopt the Renegade and the Compass. The British media reports that the new Jeep Renegade will be based on the new STLA-Small architecture, which will debut in 2026. The SUV won't use the e-CMP base that underpins the Avenger.
The new STLA architecture will allow Jeep to introduce more electrified engines along with the current Renegade's micro-hybrid or plug-in hybrid system. Not just the new Renegade, Jeep has also started working on the next generation Compass. Both models are likely to have a 100% electric version, which will be the part of Stellantis' electrification goal in Europe.
The new generation Renegade will be longer than the outgoing model, and will slot right between the Avenger and the Compass. The current model is just 15 cm longer than the Avenger. Not just Renegade, the next-gen Jeep Compass will also grow in size and will offer more space inside the cabin.
The Autoexpress report claims that the new Jeep Renegade will come with "the next generation of European-focused design". This compact SUV was not successful in the United States, as it is already discontinued from the Jeep's home market.
