Maruti Suzuki launched the fourth-gen Swift hatchback in May 2024. Priced at Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the premium hatchback impressed Indian customers with its updated design, a tech-loaded interior, and an all-new Z Series petrol engine. The brand has even collected over 40,000 bookings till now. What makes this new Swift so special?
Here are the top things you should know about the new Swift hatchback:
New Maruti Swift is available with five distinct variants- LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+. The base variant, LXi is priced at Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom) while the top-spec trim retails at Rs 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom). A dual-tone variant is also on offer with a price tag of Rs 9.14 lakh (ex-showroom).

The fourth-gen Swift has raised a lot of excitement among customers with its arrival on May 9, 2024. In the first month of its launch, the brand dispatched 19,393 units to dealers. Recent reports suggest that the new Swift has surpassed 35,800 units since its launch. Further, the company has received over 40,000 bookings till now.
The premium hatchback has received a good response from the customers. As far as the waiting period is concerned, the new Swift commands a waiting period of up to 3 weeks from the date of bookings. However, it should be noted that the timeline may vary based on one's location, choice of colour and variant.

Design-wise, the new-gen Swift has received a major update from the outside. The updated hatchback features an all-new grille, sleeker LED headlamps with DRLs, new alloy wheels, revamped LED tail lamps, and a rear door handle.
In terms of dimensions, the updated Swift measures 3860mm long, 1735mm wide and 1520mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2450mm. Besides, the car has a wider body which gives better shoulder room. Its higher roof also makes it easy for an individual to get in and out of the car.

Another significant change is the interior of the updated Swift. It now comes loaded with new tech features which were missing in the old version. Some of its interior features include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 3-spoke steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver seat, electric ORVMs, automatic climate control, a twin-dial instrument cluster, and a wireless charger, among others.

Maruti has also boosted the safety features of the new Swift. It now comes with 6 airbags which is a notable safety update from the brand. Other safety features include an Electronic Stability Program, Hill Hold Assist, 3-point seat belts, Anti-lock Braking System, and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution.

With the launch of the new Swift, Maruti also introduced an all-new Z-Series engine. The premium hatchback now takes power from a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine. This new Z-series engine is capable of producing 80 bhp with 112 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT.

The next-gen Swift is more fuel-efficient compared to the previous-gen model. With a petrol manual, it offers 24.80 kmpl of fuel efficiency while AMT offers the best mileage of 25.75 kmpl. The brand claims that the new Swift offers 10% better mileage for the manual and 14% better for the AMT transmission.
Maruti Suzuki has grabbed the interest of many customers. The premium hatchback competes with the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, Citroen C3 and Tata Tiago.
