Mercedes-Benz is getting ready to bring the all-new CLA to India. After its global debut in Europe last year, the third-generation Mercedes CLA will finally arrive in India this April. This time, it will be launched as a fully electric sedan.
The Mercedes CLA Electric will sit in the premium C-segment and is expected to be one of the most advanced electric cars from a luxury European brand.
The new CLA Electric is built on an 800-volt electric platform. This allows ultra-fast charging and makes daily driving more convenient. Mercedes has focused on offering long range along with quick charging times.
Globally, the CLA Electric is available in three versions - CLA 200, CLA 250+, and CLA 350 4MATIC.

The CLA 200 comes with a rear-mounted electric motor producing 221 hp and 355 Nm of torque. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 210 kmph.
It gets a 58 kWh battery pack that offers a WLTP range of 541 km. Fast charging is supported, with 10 to 80 percent charge taking just 20 minutes.
The CLA 250+ is expected to be the most important variant for India. It makes 268 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds.
This version uses a larger 85 kWh battery pack and offers an impressive WLTP range of up to 792 km. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes around 22 minutes with fast charging.
The top-spec CLA 350 4MATIC comes with dual motors and all-wheel drive. It produces 349 hp and 515 Nm of torque, helping it sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds.
Despite its strong performance, it still offers a long WLTP range of 770 km on a single charge.
Mercedes CLA Electric stands out with a closed front grille featuring 142 illuminated star elements. It also gets 19-inch alloy wheels and star-shaped LED headlamps and tail lamps.
With a drag coefficient of just 0.21, it is one of the most aerodynamic cars in its segment.
Inside, the CLA Electric gets a large glass roof that lets in plenty of light. The dashboard features a wide glass panel housing a 10.25-inch digital driver display, a 14-inch touchscreen, and a 14-inch passenger screen.
The passenger display can be used for video streaming, gaming, and infotainment.
Key features include massage front seats, a head-up display, and a powerful 850W Burmester sound system with 16 speakers.
Mercedes-Benz is likely to launch the CLA Electric in India in the 250+ variant. Prices are expected to start at around Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom).
