Hyundai Bayon Launching Before Diwali, New Electric SUV in 2027

New Hyundai Bayon crossover launch by October 2026 It will directly rival the Maruti Victoris First Hyundai to get underbody CNG tank

The Korean automaker, Hyundai will launch two new SUVs in the country before the end of this financial year, by March 2026. It was speculated that the electric compact SUV would launch first. However, Hyundai has announced it will launch a new midsize SUV during the festive season. The new compact electric SUV will be launched at the end of this year or early next year.

Hyundai Bayon: What to Expect?

Codenamed Bc4i, the new midsize SUV will be based on the Bayon crossover on sale in select international markets. The SUV will measure around 4.2 metres in length, and it will be positioned right between the Venue and the next-generation Hyundai Creta. For people not in the know, the next-gen Creta is scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2027.

The next-generation Hyundai Bayon will be offered with a naturally-aspirated petrol and a CNG powertrain. The big news is that the SUV is reported to get the underbody-mounted CNG tank. This midsize SUV is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers the Creta. This engine is capable of producing 114bhp and a peak torque of 144Nm, and is paired to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.

It will be the first Hyundai model over 4 metres to feature a CNG powertrain. The new model is likely to get the same 1.5L petrol engine with an underbody-mounted CNG tank. Th SUV is also likely to retain the spare wheel, which is missing in the Maruti Suzuki Victoris.

Instead of the rounded crossover design, the new Hyundai Bayon will carry a taller, boxier stance inspired by the latest Hyundai’s design theme. The Victoris is longer and taller than the Bayon. The spy images reveal that the crossover will have a split headlamp setup with “ice-cube” LED projector headlamps with a high-mounted LED daytime running lamps. It rides on new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, chunky body cladding, functional roof rails, sharply raked tailgate with prominent integrated spoiler, and new connected LED tail-lights.

The new Bayon is expected to get a large touchscreen infotainment unit, a fully digital driver’s display, connected car technology, and a LEVEL 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite featuring autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.
