The long-awaited new Renault Duster SUV will finally arrive in our market on January 26, 2026. Sales of the new Duster will commence in February-March 2026. The big news is that the new SUV will be offered with 3 engine options, including two petrol and one strong hybrid.
The new-gen Renault Duster will be based on the heavily localised version of the CMF-B modular platform, which will also underpin a new 7-seater Boreal, new Nissan Tekton and 7-seater Tekton. The company will first launch the petrol-only version of the Duster, and the hybrid version will arrive by mid-2026.
It will be powered by a new 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the global-spec model. This engine is capable of producing up to 156bhp and a peak torque of 250Nm. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
The lower-spec Duster will also get an all-new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. It was speculated to be the same unit that powers the Kiger and Magnite; however, the new Duster will debut the brand’s new 1.0L turbo engine. It is expected to offer higher power and torque output, which will be inline with the competition such as VW Group’s 1.0L and Hyundai’s 1.0L.
Renault has confirmed that the new Duster will get a hybrid powertrain, which is likely to be launched by mid-2026. Details about the hybrid engine is yet to be revealed. The global-spec model also has an hybrid powertrain, comprising a 94hp, 1.6L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors - a 49hp motor and a high-voltage starter generator, and a 1.2kWh battery. The combined power output stands at 140hp. The Duster hybrid is claimed to cover up to 80 percent of city drive on pure electric.
The new Duster will be equipped with a 10.1-inch central infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, and a digital driver’s display. In terms of features, the SUV will have powered driver’s seat, electrically operated ORVMs, connected car tech, ventilated front seats, automatic AC, LEVEL 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof and others.
The new Duster is expected to be priced around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 18 lakh, ex-showroom. It will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and others in the segment. The hybrid version could costs around Rs 16 lakh to Rs 21 lakh.
