New Renault Duster Leaves India for Global Markets

Renault has started exporting the new Duster from India. The first shipment of 750 SUVs is headed to South Africa. More international markets will be added in the coming months.

Renault India has officially started exporting the all-new Duster, marking an important milestone for the brand's operations in the country. The first shipment of 750 units has left Chennai Port and is on its way to South Africa, with exports to more international markets expected to begin in the coming months.

The move highlights India's growing role in Renault's global manufacturing and export network as the company prepares to expand its presence both at home and overseas.

India Becomes a Bigger Part of Renault's Global Plans

The export of the new Duster reflects Renault's increasing focus on India as a manufacturing hub. The company has been investing in local production, engineering and exports under its 'futuREady' strategy.

According to Stephane Deblaise, CEO of Renault Group India, the start of exports showcases the quality and competitiveness of Renault's Chennai plant. He also said India has the potential to become a major global automotive export hub because of its manufacturing ecosystem, engineering talent and improving logistics infrastructure.

Renault is targeting annual exports worth €2 billion from India by 2030, and the Duster is expected to play a key role in achieving that goal.

Built on Renault's New RGMP Platform

The all-new Duster is the first Renault model in India to be based on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP).

The new platform is designed to support multiple powertrain options, including future electrified models. It is also expected to offer better structural strength, improved safety and greater flexibility for future products.

Renault recently confirmed that the new Duster has received a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating across all variants and powertrain options, making it an attractive choice for both Indian buyers and export markets.

A Key SUV for Renault India

The return of the Duster is an important part of Renault India's growth strategy. The original Duster helped establish Renault as a popular SUV brand in the country before it was discontinued.

The new-generation model is expected to play a similar role as Renault looks to strengthen its position in India's competitive SUV market.

More Renault SUVs Coming Soon

The Duster is only the beginning of Renault's upcoming product plans for India. The company is expected to launch a seven-seat version of the Duster later this financial year.

Renault is also working on a new sub-four-metre SUV, expected to be called the Bridger, which is likely to arrive around Diwali 2027.
